2026 Yamadori Outing with Ryan Huston

NOTE: This workshp will happen, rain/snow, or shine.  In the event that we cannot hold it due to extreme weather conditions, we will set a makeup date with the property owners and guest artist.

For this workshop we will be travelling to a location in the Greater Cincinnati area to hunt for wild tree specimens and collect them. Cost is $30 per person.

In order to participate you must bring a signed copy of the waiver.  We will have extras printed the day-of in case you forget.

What to bring

• Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear clothes you won't mind getting dirty.
• Work gloves
• Hiking boots or sturdy shoes.
• Shovel.
• Pruners to cut back your tree.
• Several heavy-duty garbage bags, burlap, cloth grow-pot, or other items to securely contain the root ball.
• Duct Tape.
• Mattock or pick-axe if you have one.
• A pruning saw.
• Drinking water.
• A packed lunch and snacks

The day-of:

• Attendees will pair up to search for and extract a tree from the ground.  Digging up a tree can be difficult so be prepared to break a sweat.
• There will be two helpers that can assist as needed.
• Depending on its size, your tree may be heavy.  There will be at least one wagon/cart/wheelbarrow to help bring the tree to your vehicle.
• PLEASE MAKE SURE WHATEVER TREE YOU DIG UP WILL FIT IN YOUR VEHICLE!
• If you finish extracting your tree early and have the time, please help others that may need it.
• And most importantly, be safe and have fun!
