BSGC Member's Workshop - Scotch Pine with Jason Parrish

This Member's Workshop features a day with Jason Parrish learning about and styling Scotch pine (pinus sylvestris).

The workshop includes a nice Scotch pine pre-bonsai.  You will need to bring your own tools and wire, and copper wire is recommended but not required.

Workshop is 9am-2pm.

About Jason

I was introduced to bonsai by accident back in 1997, after coming across a bonsai kit in a mall. The idea and the culture interested me. While the kit sadly never amounted to anything, it did inspire me to start learning more about bonsai. This I did by scouring all the local libraries for any books I could find on the subject. Unfortunately the internet was not a source yet back then! I learned everything I could on my own and began increasing my plant knowledge and learning to care for the trees. Several years later I came across someone while working that had bonsai in their yard. They helped me to find and join the Indianapolis Bonsai Club. There I was able to meet people involved in the art/hobby. This gave me the chance to greatly increase my knowledge and skills. In the years since I have been keeping and learning everything about bonsai that I can. In 2021 I decided that it was time to move my hobby forward. I left my job of 20 years to pursue my passion of propagating, raising, styling and selling bonsai for a living. It has been an amazing adventure that continues to grow every day. My goal for the future is to help those that have an interest to get started into the hobby. I know how hard it was when I started. It is my desire to create high quality pre-bonsai and bonsai that are affordable to anyone with the interest.
