BSGC Monthly Meeting - Penjing!

Our guest speaker in March will be Marianne Duhamel, travelling here from Montreal, Canada to talk about penjing, the Chinese art of tree landscapes which pre-date Japanese bonsai by around 600 years.

Marianne is the Curator of the Penjing collection at the Montreal Botanical garden and her lecture will be, "Penjing: history, philosophy and Art,"  which will focus on the Lingnan school, the clip and grow style from the south of China and different esthetics specific to penjing.  She studied under Bjorn Bjorholm and this is her first foray into the US to teach Penjing.

Her Thursday lecture will be followed by a penjing workshop on Saturday, 3/22.
