BSGC New Talen Competition

Our bonsai society has a long history of annually offering to its younger members the opportunity to participate in a bonsai competition. We title this event---The BSGC New Talent Competition. This event is just what the name implies—a competition to recognize and promote new bonsai talent within our club. After a short postponement in 2020 & 21, we are resuming the tradition this year. The following are the essentials:

ELIGEBILITY — Any member of our BSGC is eligible providing he or she has been involved with the art of bonsai fewer than five (5) years. Past winners are not eligible; however, prior contestants who have not won & are still within the five-year requirement are eligible.

NOTE: The competition is limited to the FIRST eight (8) registrants.  We are accepting 10 registrations, however the last two are stand-bys in case someone drops out at the last minute.  If you decide to drop out, please visit  your My Acount page, click on My Classes, click on your submission for the competition, then go to the Submission Information section and delete your submission so that someone else can register.

FEE—None

EACH REGISTERED CONTESTANT SHALL:

1. Be provided with pre-bonsai material of the same variety with an effort to ensure all trees are of similar size & quality.
2. Furnish their own tools; however, one set of tool roll will be on site for mutual use. Aluminum wire will be provided by the club.
3. Have from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM to work on their tree. Trees will not be potted.
4. Have ownership of your tree at the conclusion of judging.
5. Not be permitted to receive advice or suggestions from any source regarding their work during the competition. Non-contestants will not be permitted entry into the contest venue during competition or judging.

JUDGING — Will begin promptly at 2:30 PM with an effort to conclude at 3:30 PM.

AWARDS:

• 1st place — $100
• 2nd place — $50
• 3rd place — $25

The Award Ceremony will immediately follow judging and is open to the public.
