Members only Shohin Workshop with Mike Lane

October's guest artist is Mike Lane, owner of Kitsune Bonsai in Fort Myers Florida.  Practicing bonsai since 2008 and a former student of Eric Wigert, Mike travels the country giving lectures, demonstrations, and exhibition critiques.  Mike has displayed at the state level several times and had had his work accepted to the U.S. National Bonsai show.

This workshop will provide Shohin instruction for an in-depth focus on developing your own shohin bonsai. This program is perfect for seedlings and cuttings, and the techniques found in this program are also great for learning proper wound healing, proportion building, and ramification theory, all of which not only apply to shohin, but larger trees as well.

Included in the workshop are one each of tropical (Hopi crepe myrtle), conifer (Chinese red pine), and deciduous (Seiju Chinese elm) trees selected for this program.

Attendees are also encouraged to bring their own shohin or pre-bonsai material, and limited quantities of Premna and Green Island Ficus are available for members to purchase on the BSGC Shop.
